You can moan and groan at your circumstances or you can grow and develop.

 

Genesis 39 (NLT) 22 Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison.

 

         Joseph received a vision of his future when he was only 17 years old.  He would be a ruler and his brothers would bow before him.  He made the mistake of telling his brothers about this and ended up being sold into slavery.  But because of his character the Lord was with him during these years. These years were years of development and refinement preparing Joseph for his calling.  Joseph was 17 when he received his calling (Gen 37:2FF).  This was fulfilled when Joseph was 39 years old when his brothers bowed before him. (Gen 40:46 he became ruler, 7 years of plenty, and 2 years of famine) It took 22 years to fulfill this vision.   We don’t know how long Joseph was in Potiphar’s house serving prior to prison, but let’s say 5 years.   If it was 5 years Joseph was in prison for a crime, he didn’t commit for 8 years!   Why?

 

Psalms 105: (NLT) 17 Then he sent someone to Egypt ahead of them—

Joseph, who was sold as a slave. 18 They bruised his feet with fetters and placed his neck in an iron collar. 19 Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the LORD tested Joseph’s character. 20 Then Pharaoh sent for him and set him free; the ruler of the nation opened his prison door. 21 Joseph was put in charge of all the king’s household; he became ruler over all the king’s possessions.

      Dumb Mistakes   Why do Christians, pastors, leaders, ushers, —everyday Christians— make real dumb mistakes.  Now I am talking about real dumb moral mistakes—lying, cheating, immorality, thievery—-like why? Duh--What church should I attend?

Part # 3 of three Part Blog: Why go to church? What is the ‘church?’ How to find the right congregation? How to find the right congregation? A congregation is what we normally refer to as a church.  Here is the distinction I am making.   The Church; This is the one described in my previous blog… “what is the church.”  It is the timeless eternal body of believers. A Congregation: This is a local gathering of believers who are part of “The Church”. Think of it this way—-three levels: Level # 1-  THE CHURCH—the mystical eternal union of all believers.
