I want nothing but Your Presence
“Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. “For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.” So the LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.” And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.”” Exodus 33:15-18, NKJV.
“Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” And the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”” Exodus 33:15-18, NIV.
Oh, my foolish flesh would ask for many things.
Things needed.
Things wanted.
Things that my mind, history—and culture would tell me are necessities!
My mind tells me I need more.
Culture mocks me—how can you live without____________(fill in the blank).
But LORD this is not true
David wrote: “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.” (Ps 73:25)
So, David knew.
David experienced.
“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)
The everlasting eternal joys are not received except through YOU Lord and Your Presence.
Your Presence is Your face.
It is face to face.
It is Your breath.
It is Your smell.
It is Your look.
Away world!
Away flesh!
Away temporary thrills, wants, and passions!
Come Presence.
Come Spirit.
Fill me to overflowing with Presence.
Fill mind, soul, body.
Fill past, present, future.
Nothing satisfies that longing in my heart like Presence.
Nothing will do.
Everything
Everyone
Will fall short.
But Oh—You Lord, Your Presence
Satisfies—and yet somehow—incredibly creates a hunger for more.
Adam and Eve hid themselves from Your presence… I want to seek, run into, be filled with Your Presence.
May I, like Gabriel—stand in Your presence-
Not because I am angelic like Gabriel.
But because I am cleansed and brought close because of Jesus.
